Role Description

Bookkeepers play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and smooth operation of the Rescue. They maintain accurate financial records, enabling informed decisions and maximizing resources for the dogs in our care.

• The Bookkeeper is responsible for categorizing all financial transactions: donations, expenses, and program revenue.
• Involves reconciling bank statements and assisting with budget preparation.
• Works closely with a team of other Bookkeepers to share the load and ensure no one volunteer is overworked.

What Winning Looks Like

• Key Results Area #1 - Timeliness and Accuracy of Financial Transactions
  • KPI: Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and categorized on a weekly basis.
  • Metric: 100% of weekly transactions entered and accurately categorized by the end of each week, with no more than 2% errors in categorization during monthly reviews.
• Key Results Area #2 - Effective Communication
  • KPI: Maintain timely and clear communication with the CEO and other Finance Department team members to ensure up-to-date and accurate financial records.
  • Metric: Respond to CEO and Accountant queries within 2 business days; submit monthly financial reports on time with no critical errors.
• Key Results Area #3 - Financial Record Transparency
  • KPI: Maintain transparent financial records that enable informed decision-making and effective resource management.
  • Metric: 100% compliance with internal audits; provide accurate financial reports that require no more than two revisions per quarter.

Qualifications

• Experience in Bookkeeping or Accounting
• Proficiency in Quickbooks Online
• Self Motivated - hours are flexible, but we don't have time to be reminding you to finish tasks.
• Willing to work in a team - having a small team of volunteers helps relieve the pressure from each person individually.
• Meticulous, detailed, organized

Company Description

At Path of Hope Rescue we save pregnant dogs and puppies from high kill shelters in the Southern United States. Our Spokane, Washington based Rescue strives to decrease the euthanasia rate of high risk dogs in the southern United States by transporting pregnant dogs and puppies to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive homes.

• We do not have a kennel or building location and are 100% foster based.
• We currently have two paid employees and rely heavily on volunteers and fosters as we work to build out our paid staff roles.
