Role Description
BranchED seeks an Associate Vice President of Finance & Accounting (AVPFA) who will build, manage, and support highly effective talent, culture, and financial systems at a rapidly growing nonprofit organization with over 25 employees. This position will play a critical role in standardizing existing systems, policies, and procedures to improve and effectively manage BranchED's finances.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the AVPFA will collaborate across the organization with programming teams and work closely with members of the executive team to lead high-priority strategic initiatives and the overall day-to-day financial operations for the organization.
The AVPFA is responsible for:

Leading all financial operations and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Guiding strategic financial planning and supporting executive decision-making.

Overseeing the organization's accounting and financial functions.

Guiding the budgeting processes and creating long-term financial plans.

Collaborating with the COO and stakeholders to manage the organization's resources.
Qualifications

Master's degree in Accounting.

7+ years of experience with a demonstrated track record of expertise and excellence in accounting. Non-profit experience preferred.

Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting.

Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

High level of accountability and accuracy in accounting work.

Capacity to develop strong relationships with all staff.

Demonstrated track record leading in a fast-paced environment.

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Proficiency in Intacct and Concur preferred but not required.
Requirements

Provide inclusive financial leadership to the organization.

Serve as a thought partner and collaborator with the COO.

Participate in or lead financial-related training as needed.

Oversee the accuracy and maintenance of subledger and general ledger transactions.

Lead monthly reconciliation of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll reports.

Monitor and manage cash flow to support weekly bill payment cycle and payroll operations.

Lead the preparation and coordination of annual and mid-year budget review processes.

Troubleshoot and resolve finance systems malfunctions.

Oversee and lead the preparation of requests by auditors.

Draft and set policy and processes as necessary to ensure clear communication.
