Role Description

David Thomas CPA is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This position will provide day-to-day accounting and administrative support while working closely with accounting professionals and assisting with the accurate maintenance of financial records.

The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with numbers and financial information, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in a remote work environment.

• Assist with daily bookkeeping and accounting activities.
• Process invoices, payments, expenses, and other financial transactions.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Enter and maintain accurate financial information in accounting systems.
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.
• Prepare spreadsheets, schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Review transactions and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Organize and maintain electronic accounting records and files.
• Assist with client accounting requests and routine correspondence.
• Support CPAs and accounting staff with financial and administrative tasks.
• Follow established accounting procedures and maintain confidentiality of client information.
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, or a related position.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a remote team.
• Ability to maintain a professional and secure remote workspace.

Requirements

• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Familiarity with account reconciliations and month-end procedures.
• Experience working in a remote accounting or administrative environment.
