Role Description

Looking for an accountant to contribute to a UK-based insurance finance transformation and delivery team, to support and enhance the flow of accounting data from administration system, TCS BaNCS, into the Oracle General Ledger. You will be responsible for understanding, managing and improving the end-to-end accounting data flow, including:

• Transaction mapping
• Posting rules
• Account mapping
• Reconciliations
• Finance change initiatives
• Testing

The successful candidate will have strong life and pensions insurance accounting experience, a sound understanding of policy administration systems and the ability to identify and resolve accounting and reconciliation issues at their root cause.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant: CA(SA), ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or qualified by experience
• Demonstrable experience within the life and pensions insurance industry
• Strong understanding of life insurance accounting processes
• Experience working with a life insurance policy administration system
• Good understanding of the accounting flow from policy administration systems into the General Ledger
• Strong reconciliation and financial control experience
• Experience investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies
• Finance change, systems implementation or testing experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Requirements

• Understand and manage the end-to-end flow of accounting data from the policy administration system into the General Ledger
• Analyse how policy, premium, claims, commission and fund transactions are processed and accounted for
• Maintain and enhance accounting mappings, posting rules and account mapping structures
• Ensure the accurate and complete transfer of accounting data from the policy administration system to the Oracle General Ledger
• Investigate accounting discrepancies and identify underlying causes
• Perform and strengthen reconciliations across policy, cash and unit/fund data
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks and accounting mismatches
• Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement sustainable corrective actions
• Ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of accounting data
• Support the enhancement of financial controls and reconciliation processes
• Support finance change initiatives relating to accounting systems, processes and data flows
• Participate in system changes, enhancements and implementation activities
• Perform and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and other finance-related testing
• Validate accounting outputs and posting logic following system changes
• Work closely with finance, technology and operational teams to ensure successful delivery of change
• Provide technical accounting guidance and oversight to accountants within the team
• Coordinate deliverables, manage priorities and ensure quality of work
• Lead investigations into complex accounting and reconciliation issues
• Support process improvements and knowledge sharing
• Liaise with UK-based stakeholders and offshore delivery teams
