Role Description
Are you an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced personal injury paralegal? You might be an excellent fit for our busy personal injury law firm. You will:
- Draft briefs and create legal documents such as affidavits
- Conduct legal research for trial preparation
- Maintain case files and other critical materials organized and easily accessible
- Order, review, and summarize medical materials to produce a factual response to discovery
- Assist with family settlement discussions and mediation to prevent litigation
Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Case Management Systems - Filevine, SmartAdvocate, Lawruler - a Plus
- Knowledge of the Pre Litigation Process involved in Personal Injury Cases - a plus
- Talk with service providers or insurers about possible settlements for liens, bills, and medical expenses
- Assist lawyers with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, aiding with client meetings, submitting motions, researching legal publications, and coordinating witnesses
- Order, review, and summarize medical records for preparing factual response to discovery
- Resolve disputes without going to court by providing legal representation at family settlement meetings and mediation
- Help attorneys create legal pleadings, paperwork, and correspondence, including interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notifications, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits
Requirements
- Must have 3-5 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer, preferably in a personal injury law firm
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
- Talented verbal communicator and writer
- High-level organizational skills and time-management skills
- Completion of a NALA (National Association of Legal Assistants) certification program strongly preferred
Compensation
$22 - $25 hourly
