Role Description
This role involves providing exceptional legal and business support within PosiGen's legal department. The Associate General Counsel will:
- Provide legal advice and counsel on employment law issues, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, and contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with outside counsel and represent the business in administrative proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to prepare legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and settlement agreements.
- Develop and implement strategies to resolve employment disputes effectively and efficiently.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints and provide recommendations for appropriate action.
- Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and handbooks to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Stay updated on changes in employment laws and regulations and advise clients accordingly.
- Conduct training sessions for clients on employment law topics and best practices.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals to provide comprehensive legal services.
- Identify, advise on, and minimize business risks and propose practical solutions.
- Consult with corporate attorneys and outside regulatory and litigation counsel as necessary.
- Keep management informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical, drafting, negotiating, and communication skills.
- Self-starter able to work with little supervision and maintain high productivity.
- Sound business judgment with the ability to simplify complex issues and find practical solutions.
- Highest level of personal integrity and professional judgment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels within the organization.
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude and good work ethic.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in employment law.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed in at least one state (active and in good standing).
- 5+ years of relevant law firm and/or in-house experience.
- Experience in residential solar, renewables, and/or energy matters preferred.
- Understanding of several relevant areas of law applicable to the business, including employment and litigation matters.
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands
- Regular speaking, listening, standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel objects, and reaching with arms.
- Occasionally requires sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Must be able to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Vision requirements include the ability to focus at close and long distances, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral awareness, perceive depth, and make precise focus adjustments.
