Role Description

Step into a mission-critical position as a Disaster Recovery Systems Architect with Lockheed Martin’s Enterprise Business & Digital Transformation team. Drive the design, implementation, and modernization of resilient, high-availability architectures across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments. Your expertise will directly support the continuity and rapid recovery of essential operations, safeguarding business resilience and technological advancement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation of enterprise-wide Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) architectures for cloud, hybrid, and on-premises workloads.
• Develop and maintain architectural blueprints, reference designs, and pattern libraries aligned with security and compliance mandates.
• Design and deploy automated failover, replication, and failback solutions utilizing leading technologies (e.g., Site Recovery Manager, Kubernetes, database mirroring).
• Integrate emerging DR technologies, such as Immutable Infrastructure, Chaos Engineering, and Serverless DR, to enhance system resiliency and reduce recovery times.
• Ensure all DR solutions align with corporate and regulatory standards (CRX 301, CRX 302, NIST 800-34, ISO 22301, FedRAMP).
• Prepare and update DR documentation, runbooks, and test plans; lead full-scale DR exercise planning, execution, and post-mortem analysis.
• Define and report on DR metrics, KPIs, and success criteria to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with IT, Cloud Engineering, Application Development, Security, and Governance teams to embed DR/HA best practices across the SDLC.
• Champion DR modernization by assessing, updating, and remediating legacy systems and applications to meet latest RTO/RPO targets.
• Provide technical leadership during architecture reviews, risk assessments, and design milestones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience architecting and implementing DR/HA solutions for enterprise-scale cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Hands-on proficiency with AWS, Azure, GCP, and related DR services (e.g., cross-region replication, networking, IAM).
• Deep understanding of networking, storage, virtualization, Kubernetes, and database resiliency technologies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for diverse technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with automated DR solutions: AWS DRS, Azure Site Recovery, Zerto, Veeam, IBM Resiliency Services.
• Scripting and automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, GitLab.
• DR exercise planning, metrics development, and KPI reporting.
• Multi-cloud and hybrid DR deployments.
• Advanced certifications: AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, VMware VCAP DCV.
• Strong analytical skills in risk assessment, impact analysis, and cost-benefit modeling.
