[Hiring] Simulation Engineer @Invio Automation

3d ago - Invio Automation is hiring a remote Simulation Engineer. 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: USA

Role Description

The Simulation Engineer will be responsible for developing, executing, and analyzing manufacturing simulations to support the evaluation and development of industrial automation solutions, primarily within automotive manufacturing environments. Working closely with the CAD Modeling & Data Specialist, the Simulation Engineer will utilize 2D layouts, 3D CAD models, and manufacturing process data to develop accurate simulation models that evaluate automation concepts, validate technical feasibility, and quantify expected operational improvements.

  • Deliver credible, data-driven simulation results to enable the Senior Manager – Automotive Automation Solutions & Simulation to develop compelling technical and commercial proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CAD Modeling & Data Specialist to review and validate 2D/3D models, manufacturing layouts, equipment specifications, and production data required for simulation.
  • Develop accurate simulation models of manufacturing equipment, robotic systems, production lines, and material handling processes, incorporating cycle times, equipment capacities, process sequences, and operating conditions.
  • Develop and execute manufacturing and robotic simulations to evaluate automation concepts, production throughput, cycle times, equipment utilization, material flow, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Apply discrete-event simulation, robotic simulation, and digital twin technologies to assess robot reach, motion paths, collisions, equipment interactions, operational feasibility, and production constraints.
  • Analyze simulation results to identify bottlenecks, technical risks, and opportunities to improve manufacturing performance, efficiency, and capacity.
  • Evaluate alternative automation concepts and equipment configurations, collaborating with engineering teams to optimize solutions and validate expected operational improvements.
  • Prepare comprehensive simulation reports and visualizations documenting assumptions, operating conditions, performance results, technical conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Quantify expected manufacturing improvements and support customer presentations, providing validated technical inputs for automation investment justifications, ROIC analysis, and technical/commercial proposals.
  • Validate simulation assumptions and results against production data, engineering calculations, and equipment specifications, providing recommendations to support technical decisions and solution development.
  • Develop and maintain standardized simulation methodologies, model libraries, documentation practices, and validation procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Maintain organized, reusable, and appropriately documented simulation models to support future projects, concept revisions, and customer evaluations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve simulation capabilities, tools, and methodologies, supporting the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and digital engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • 5 – 10 years of relevant experience in automation, manufacturing, applications engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with industrial simulation platforms such as Siemens Tecnomatix (Process Simulate / Plant Simulation), Visual Components, DELMIA, Emulate3D, or equivalent tools, including experience with robotic and/or discrete-event simulation.
  • Strong understanding of industrial robotics, automated manufacturing systems, production processes, and performance metrics, including cycle time, throughput, OEE, equipment utilization, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Working knowledge of 2D/3D CAD applications such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent platforms, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and validate simulation models, analyze manufacturing performance, identify bottlenecks, and evaluate alternative automation solutions.
  • Strong analytical, technical reporting, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and present simulation results and recommendations to customers.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s ERP and Salesforce system.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into Invio’s sales initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel within North America, up to 20% of the time.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing simulation, industrial automation, or robotics.
