[Hiring] Regional Engineering Manager @ATS FAMILY

Role Description

We are seeking a Regional Engineering Manager to lead a portion of the mechanical, Fire, and VAR division. This role blends technical expertise in mechanical systems and forensic analysis with leadership responsibilities as it relates to performance, client service, guiding assignments, inspections, and growing the division. The position is remote with required travel for site inspections, client work, and team support.

Location: Remote (with approximately 25–50% travel depending on home location)

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop assigned mechanical forensic engineering team.
• Monitor and measure performance including:
  • Quality of investigations and reporting
  • Time management and direct hours
  • Client & Internal Communication
  • Cycle time management
  • Client satisfaction and repeat business
• Drive growth of the division by expanding the client base and increasing assignment volume.
• Provide guidance in clarifying scope, preparing for inspections, and collecting data.
• Review, edit, and verify technical reports for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
• Conduct and support forensic investigations, failure analysis and/or damage consistency evaluations pertaining to:
  • Vehicles
  • Vehicle system data
  • Heavy equipment
  • Machinery
  • Fires
  • Appliances
  • Consumer products
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Accident Reconstruction
  • Electrical systems
• Monitor performance as it relates to client expectations in the areas of:
  • Scope adherence/clarification
  • Inspection scheduling
  • Billed hours
  • Cycle time
  • Total assignment cost
• Collaborate with clients, delivering professional presentations and clear technical findings.
• Participate in testimony or litigation support (as needed).
• Work with Technical Training & Support Manager to coordinate internal training and development programs for engineers.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations relevant to forensic engineering.
• Travel 25–50% for inspections, site visits, and client meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (multi-state licensure preferred).
• 15+ years of engineering experience with at least 10 years in mechanical systems.
• 3–5 years of forensic engineering experience.
• Management and training experience.
• Proven expertise in failure analysis and forensic engineering processes.
• Direct experience with mechanical and electrical systems including:
  • Vehicles
  • Vehicle system data
  • Heavy equipment
  • Machinery
  • Consumer products
  • HVAC
  • Plumbing systems
• Excellent inspection, troubleshooting, problem solving, and technical report writing skills.
• Client-facing experience with proven ability to communicate technical findings effectively.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Requirements

• Licensure in multiple states.
• Vehicle Accident Reconstruction (VAR) experience.
• Certified Fire Investigator (CFI) or Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI).
• Testifying experience in litigation or arbitration.
