[Hiring] Power Systems Engineer II @Electric Power Engineers

Role Description

EPE is in search of an Engineer with a background in EMT modelling and power system studies to join our growing Energy Resources team. In this role you will work closely with senior leadership to support our growth strategy and provide subject matter expertise both internally through coaching and developing staff as well as externally to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Electro-magnetic Transient (EMT) Studies:
  • Perform power system studies such as subsynchronous resonance, control interaction, ferroresonance, temporary overvoltage (TOV), switching overvoltage (SOV), insulation coordination, harmonic, transient recovery voltage (TRV), energization, lightning, etc.
• Model Development:
  • Develop local system EMT models.
  • Perform disturbance ride through model tuning.
  • Perform PSCAD/PSSE model benchmarking.
• Steady State Studies:
  • Perform steady state studies such as load flow and short circuit.
• Technology:
  • Proficiency in power system modelling software such as PSCAD, EMTP, PSSE, Digsilent Powerfactory, ETAP, CYMCAP.
• Compliance:
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry standards such as IEEE/IEC/CICRE.
• Client Engagement:
  • Provide advisory support to generation, large load, and merchant transmission developers.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in power system modelling and power system studies.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.
• Experience with control system tuning is a plus.
• Experience with HVDC system is a plus.
• Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity, and innovation.
