[Hiring] Engineering Manager @OpenFX

Role Description

OpenFX processes billions of dollars in transaction volume every month across global corridors. Data Engineering owns the pipelines that carry that activity from our trading, banking and settlement systems, and from every bank and liquidity provider we work with, into the lakehouse:

• Ingestion in batch and in real time
• Bronze, silver and gold layers that turn raw events into canonical datasets
• Orchestration that keeps them fresh
• Quality, governance and cost controls around them

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Data Engineering pod.
• Own ingestion from every source into the lakehouse reliably.
• Own the lakehouse and its layers: bronze, silver, and gold datasets.
• Own orchestration and the delivery path for data.
• Own data quality and reliability.
• Own data governance in the platform.
• Own the cost of the platform.
• Make the platform self-serve for analysts, data scientists, and product teams.
• Own the data foundations for machine learning and AI.
• Stay close to the work and support the team.
• Grow the team and invest in the engineers.

Qualifications

• 8 or more years in data engineering, with 4 or more years managing a data engineering team.
• Experience in a regulated or audited environment.
• Experience running production pipelines and a lakehouse or warehouse.
• Deep knowledge in modern data engineering practices.
• Experience leading major platform decisions.
• Ability to write SQL and Python, review data models, and debug pipelines.
• Demonstrated hiring and performance management skills.
• Strong leadership skills focused on team growth.
• Experience using AI agents to automate data engineering work.
• Clear written communication skills.

Requirements

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or exchanges.
• Experience ingesting and normalizing money-movement data.
• Experience rolling out data contracts, catalogs, or quality programs.
• Experience with streaming and change-data-capture pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with GDPR, PCI DSS, DORA, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 audits.
