[Hiring] Director of Engineering @Moxie

Role Description

We're looking for a Director of Engineering to become the day-to-day leader of Moxie's Engineering organization. You'll own delivery, organizational health, manager development, staffing, and engineering operating strategy for roughly 60 engineers, and you'll lead our AI strategy and execution across both the product and the software development lifecycle.

Engineering is Moxie's largest organization, and this hire is how it gets a leader with the time and technical depth to take it to the next level.

You'll partner daily with the Head of Engineering and with Product leadership through the Product and Engineering operating cadence. You'll inherit a productive, fast-moving engineering organization at an exciting inflection point, with the opportunity to further mature our engineering practices and help shape our transition toward AI-powered software development.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership and at least 3 years leading managers and technical leaders.
• Management depth.
• Operating rigor.
• Proven experience building production AI and agentic systems.
• Technical judgment.
• Comfort with real delegation and real authority.

Requirements

• You've run a 30-60 person engineering organization through multiple Engineering Managers, ideally at a Series B-D product company.
• You've built KPI systems (DORA, cycle time, reliability) that teams actually use to change behavior.
• You've shipped AI in a product or SDLC with real standards for evals, observability, security, and cost.
• You’re very comfortable with system design, software design patterns, and engineering processes & principles (agile, scrum, SRE, devops, etc).
• You have experience in building and shaping engineering organizations, from hiring strategy and people management to maturing the SDLC and org design.
