Role Description

The Director, Engineering is the strategic owner to the build and delivery of WelbeHealth's healthcare technology platforms, leading a team of onshore and offshore engineers to create the technology at the center of how our interdisciplinary teams care for our vulnerable seniors. Reporting to the VP, Technology, the Director, Engineering drives core engineering practices across the team, including:

• Code quality
• Design and code reviews
• Testing discipline
• Delivery rhythm

This role remains hands-on in solution architecture and design for complex distributed systems and champions AI-assisted engineering as everyday practice. The Director, Engineering works closely with business stakeholders to design technical solutions and drive engineering delivery for the product.

This role is different because the Director, Engineering at WelbeHealth:

• Combines strategic engineering leadership with hands-on technical ownership.
• Leads engineering at the intersection of healthcare, cloud modernization, and AI.

On the day-to-day, you will:

• Lead and mentor a team of onshore and offshore engineers.
• Perform hands-on solution architecture and design for complex distributed systems.
• Drive core engineering practices across the team.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to design technical solutions.
• Drive technology planning and investment decisions.
• Ensure features provide the security and data integrity required for compliance.
• Maintain testing, training, and production environments according to required security protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or equivalent; relevant professional experience may be substituted.
• Solution Architecture certification (Azure preferred).
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of information technology design, development, and support experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of engineering leadership experience.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft development tools and languages (.net).
• Extensive knowledge of multiple development platforms, languages, and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and practices.
• Skilled in identifying and understanding business problems.
• Knowledge of project lifecycles, including design, analysis, testing, and implementation.
• Experience with healthcare technology platforms preferred.

Requirements

• Expert-level skills in multiple software development disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and develop engineers.
• Experience in large-scale project planning.

Compensation Offering

$145,399.15 — $191,926.88 USD
