Role Description
The Senior Learning Architect will be accountable for the learning experience design and adult learning within a specific market (e.g., Non-IB/Consultancy, Adult Competencies, Onboarding, IBWS). As the design and learning sciences expert within the PL Design team, the Senior Learning Architect will lead the product design in the rollout of IBβs next-generation professional learning model.
Responsibilities

Design a recognition system (i.e., micro credentials) of outstanding teaching practice aligned to IBβs Teacher Capabilities Framework.

Design the scope, user interface, and methodology for aligning learning outcomes to the Capabilities Framework.

Design and scope sets of learning experiences and journeys which align to micro-credentials.

Ensure the design of the learning modules generates a portfolio of evidence of professional learning for teachers.

Design the training required for IB Educators to be awarded micro-credentials for pre-requisites to IBEN roles.

As a thought leader, ensure micro-credentials' value is recognized internally and externally.

Establish the learning outcomes and parameters for all learning aligned to micro-credentials in an open badging framework.

Establish policies for the issuance and renewal of micro-credentials.

Collaborate with Policy and Design team to incorporate micro-credentials into the larger IB Principles and Practices.

Leadership responsibility, decision-making authority, and problem-solving responsibility for the content and design of professional learning.

Establish a new approach to professional learning currency, leading IB into an evidence-based approach to adult learning.
Qualifications

7 -10 years experience in a learning architect or senior L&D or instructional design role.

Masterβs degree or equivalent work experience or higher; PhD preferred.

Demonstrated expertise in learning design, adult learning, teacher learning, and knowledge structures.

Demonstrated expertise in design of teacher professional learning systems.

Previous experience developing certification pathways or micro-credentialing systems.

Demonstrated experience leveraging expertise in teacher learning and knowledge with learning design.

Previous experience developing job-skills frameworks or competency-based learning models.

A proven track record developing self-paced learning experiences for an adult audience.

Previous experience setting requirements, evaluating audience characteristics, and content constraints.

Strong knowledge of modern learning design, learning sciences, and latest instructional technologies.

Expertise in leveraging technology, content specifications, processes, and team structures.

Expertise in Learning & Development content production tools and processes.
-
Effectively leads change management in roles and responsibilities.

Responsive to and flourishes in a fast-paced, innovative working environment.

Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.

Able to work innovatively and iteratively to be responsive to stakeholder needs.

Proven ability to design complex learning models to modular, actionable learning activities.

Extensive experience with common EdTech platforms (e.g., Learning Management Systems or LXPs) preferred.

Strong team and cross-functional team collaboration skills.

Knowledge of the IB and international education preferred.
