Role Description

The Rankin School of Nursing invites applications for a Part-time Academic Instructor to teach NURS 440 (Transition to Nursing Practice: Consolidation) (3 credits) in the Winter term of the 2026-2027 Academic Year. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

• Consolidate nursing knowledge and entry-to-practice competencies.
• Focus on the transition from student to baccalaureate graduate registered nurse role through a mentored experience.
• Students assume responsibility for learning and increasingly complex assignments as they near the end of their baccalaureate education.
• Application of relevant evidence and best practice guidelines is required.
• Includes 440 hours of clinical practice experience.

Course Number and Title: NURS 440.21 & 440.22 (1.5 teaching credits for each section) – Transition to Nursing Practice: Consolidation

Start and End Dates: January 5 – April 24, 2027

Class Schedule: A student orientation session to be held at the beginning of the course. Students in this course are in placement and follow their preceptors schedule. The part-time academic instructor coordinates the course and is available throughout the term for meetings with students, preceptors, and nurse educator.

Delivery Mode: Remote, with in-person meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree with significant experience in the course area.
• Relevant teaching experience at the undergraduate level is an asset.

Requirements

• Preparation and delivery of course content.
• Development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams.
• Calculation and submission of grades.
• Holding regular office hours.
