Role Description

Currently, RG is looking to hire an Instructional Designer. The Instructional Designer is an exempt customer-facing business professional that will identify the performance, skills, knowledge, information, and attitude gaps of a targeted audience and create, select and/or suggest learning experiences to fill this gap.

• Designs and executes knowledge transfer initiatives for the US Navy (Office of Naval Research), including the creation, implementation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comprehensive documentation.
• Designs and develops online course content tailored to meet organizational objectives and learner requirements, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
• Creates engaging and effective learning materials, such as presentations, instructional videos, and interactive exercises, to enhance the learning experience.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts, educators, and stakeholders to ensure all learning resources are accurate, high-quality, and aligned with current needs and standards.
• Assesses the effectiveness of learning and training materials by collecting feedback and analyzing data, making continuous improvements to optimize learning outcomes.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to deliver high quality documentation that pays attention to detail
• The ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
• The ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
• Prioritization and multi-tasking skills

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or a closely related field
• 4+ years of teaching, training, or web designing experience
• Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
• Familiarity with design and learning programs (Adobe, Photoshop, Flash, etc.)
• Excellent communication and graphic design skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development
• Ability to operate effectively in remote/hybrid team environments
• NACI or ability to obtain
