Role Description

The Infant and Toddler Coach is a Quality Improvement Coach who specializes in care for children from birth to age three. The role follows the Great Start to Quality Infant and Toddler Network Model. It combines Practice-Based Coaching with leading regional Infant and Toddler Learning Communities.

  • Help educators strengthen responsive, relationship-based caregiving.
  • Connect infant and toddler priorities to coaching goals.
  • Work across their Resource Center region with the ECIC Infant and Toddler Mentor Coach, Resource Center leadership, and state partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, education, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in early childhood education, quality improvement, coaching, consultation, professional learning, or program administration.
  • Specialized knowledge of infant and toddler development, caregiving practices, responsive relationships, continuity of care, and relationship-based care.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, effective teaching, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with early literacy, CLASS, developmental screenings, or observation-based quality improvement.
  • Experience facilitating groups or learning communities, and delivering professional development.
  • Reflective, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach to coaching adults.
  • Clear communication in person, virtually, and in writing, with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organization to manage a caseload, track participation, and keep accurate records.
  • Comfort using technology for documentation, data entry, reporting, and virtual coaching.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned region and attend required trainings, meetings, and mentor coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Infant and Toddler Learning Communities.
  • Recruit, orient, and engage educators and programs in regional Learning Communities, and facilitate the sessions.
  • Deliver Practice-Based Coaching.
  • Coach Learning Community members using the MiLEAP-approved framework: shared goals, focused observation, and reflection and feedback.
  • Link learning to daily practice.
  • Connect Learning Community content to each educator's goals and action plans, and support infant and toddler caregiving in the classroom.
  • Guide the quality improvement process.
  • Help programs understand infant and toddler quality priorities, prepare for observations, and use results to set goals.
  • Provide professional development.
  • Deliver or support infant and toddler training, including MiRegistry-approved courses.
  • Connect educators to resources.
  • Link programs to T.E.A.C.H., ECE Registered Apprenticeships, developmental screening, and other workforce supports.
  • Build strong coaching relationships.
  • Use strengths-based, culturally responsive approaches, coaching in person and virtually across the region.
  • Collaborate with partners.
  • Work with the ECIC Infant and Toddler Mentor Coach, supervisors, Resource Center leadership, and state partners to keep the Network Model consistent.
  • Keep learning.
  • Join Infant and Toddler Network trainings, Communities of Practice, reflective supervision or consultation, and mentor coaching.
  • Track, document, and report.
  • Record recruitment, participation, and coaching activity, meet Network reporting requirements, and share feedback on regional needs.

Working Conditions

  • This is a remote position with regional travel.
  • Duties are performed according to COOR safety and health policies.
  • Follow COOR ISD policies and procedures regarding mileage reimbursement, travel, technology, purchasing, records retention, confidentiality, and use of organizational equipment and resources.
  • Maintain a functional home office space.
  • Provide your own reliable internet service for the home office.
  • Have reliable transportation for meetings, site visits, and in-person coaching.
  • Track time worked on Google Calendar.
  • Attend team meetings to stay connected with colleagues.

Terms of Employment

  • 200-205 day contract.
  • Hourly wage / Salary will be established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation

  • Performance on this job will be evaluated annually as required.
  • Interviews will be held November 5th in the morning and November 6th in the afternoon.
