Role Description
The College of Early Childhood Educators (the College) supports high-quality early learning and care by regulating more than 65,000 members of the profession in the public interest, pursuant to the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007. We are seeking an analytical, collaborative critical thinker experienced in leading the review and development of post-secondary program assessment standards for a 5 to 6 month contract which may lead to permanent full time.

Develop policies, standards, guidelines and tools related to the approval of education programs

Lead the assessment of institutional applications for educational program approval as well as the monitoring and auditing of existing programs

Develop, implement and evaluate new and/or alternate approaches to assessing individual applications for registration based on current research and best practices

Review and make recommendations on individual applicant/member education plans in light of the Collegeβs current registration requirements

Act as the primary liaison with post-secondary institutions for the approval of education programs

Develop project charters and work plans to guide and monitor implementation of related projects

Support the preparation and coordination of a variety of statistical and policy reports

Prepare and present information to colleagues, committee members and Council
Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 yearsβ demonstrated experience conducting Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) or credential assessments in a post-secondary environment

Demonstrated experience leading policy and program development and evaluation projects and initiatives

Demonstrated experience working with approval, certification or accreditation programs

Demonstrated understanding of post-secondary education systems as well as early learning care and professional regulatory sectors in Ontario

Working knowledge of the current Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (OCAAT) program standards for early childhood education

Ability to understand and apply the principles of related legislation, regulations and policies, including the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007 and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014

Research, analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills to review, assess and provide recommendations related to the approval of education programs and individual education plans

Relationship-management skills to build trust and foster and maintain collaborative, supportive relationships
-
Conflict resolution skills to respond to stakeholder concerns in a constructive manner
-
Proven ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) to reply to general inquiries, convey and reinforce regulatory obligations, and create written correspondence

Self-motivated with organizational skills to efficiently manage the workload and deal effectively with multiple, competing demands

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Fluent in both official languages (an asset)
