Role Description

The School of Nursing seeks Adjunct (Part-Time) faculty for the DNP program who have experience teaching at the graduate level in an online environment and mentoring doctoral students. An Adjunct (Part-Time) academic faculty member will report to the Academic Program Coordinator and will work closely with Academic Coordinators, academic advising, and administrative staff within the School of Nursing.

• Serve as committee chair, or faculty advisor and/or second member of doctoral project study committees.

What to expect as a Walden faculty member:

• Educate Walden University students using online technology and resources.
• Impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique through thoughtful, well-written, and timely communications.
• Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations.

Training:

• Receive specific training in teaching techniques, use of an electronic learning platform, and policies of the School or College.
• Socialization into the Walden University culture.
• Assessment of academic integrity of student work.
• Supervision of DNP project.

Course Teaching/Availability:

• Assigned a course taught using the CANVAS platform.
• Interact with students within the platform.
• Discussion Boards open 24/7.
• Minimum of 4 days per week in the classroom.
• Responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours.

Tools/Technical Skills:

• Perform essential duties satisfactorily.
• Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Earned master’s degree in nursing (MSN) AND earned DNP from an accredited institution.
• Active, unrestricted RN License in one of the 50 U.S. States required.
• A minimum of 1 year of practicum experience.
• Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) certification or executive leadership experience preferred.
• Expertise in areas of scholarship, theory, nursing education.
• Online teaching experience preferred.
• Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students.
• Excellent communication, team, and human-relations skills.

Requirements

• Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed and possess an earned degree from an accredited institution.
• Must maintain licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue teaching at Walden University.
• Expected to maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations.

Benefits

• Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course.
• Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course.
• Other opportunities include dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring.
