Role Description
The DevOps Engineer designs, builds, and maintains the CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, and infrastructure automation that power customer delivery operations. Working within the Customer Ops team, this role is the engineering engine behind deployment velocity β ensuring that customer environments are provisioned, upgraded, and maintained reliably, securely, and at pace.
This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure operations. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for making deployment a repeatable, automated, and quality-assured activity β eliminating manual overhead, enforcing DevSecOps standards, and giving the wider Customer Ops and Systems Engineering teams the tooling they need to operate efficiently at scale.
Key Responsibilities
-
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for customer environment deployments, upgrades, and patch cycles β covering cloud-hosted and customer-hosted model
-
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, Helm, Ansible)
-
Implement and enforce DevSecOps practices across all product and client deployment pipelines β including security scanning, secrets management, and policy-as-code controls
-
Develop and maintain deployment tooling, scripts, and environment templates that reduce manual effort and improve deployment consistency
-
Support Systems Engineers during new customer environment builds, patch cycles, and major upgrades β providing tooling, automation, and hands-on assistance
-
Build and maintain ops process tooling: SLA tracking dashboards, deployment status portals, environment health monitors, and internal reporting utilities
-
Maintain deployment metrics and reporting β pipeline success rate, deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate β to inform continuous improvement
-
Identify and remediate deployment bottlenecks, pipeline failures, and infrastructure configuration drift across customer environments
-
Collaborate with the SRE team to align infrastructure design with operational monitoring and incident response requirements
-
Participate in change management processes β ensuring all production environment changes are logged, reviewed, and reversible
-
Contribute to the Automation Engineering team's agentic workflow initiatives β developing automation that further reduces operational toil
-
Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for all pipelines, playbooks, and environment configurations
Key Deliverables
-
CI/CD pipeline designs and live implementations for all customer deployment models β cloud, on-prem, and hybrid
-
Infrastructure-as-Code templates and reusable deployment playbooks β maintained, versioned, and documented
-
DevSecOps controls documentation and compliance evidence for all customer-facing pipelines
-
Automated environment provisioning and teardown scripts β reducing manual setup time per new customer deployment
-
Deployment metrics dashboard: pipeline success rate, deployment frequency, lead time, and change failure rate β reported monthly
-
Ops tooling: SLA trackers, status portals, and environment health dashboards operational and actively used by Customer Ops team
-
Target: pipeline success rate β₯ 95%; zero unplanned production outages attributable to deployment tooling failures
Qualifications
-
CI/CD platforms: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps β pipeline design, implementation, and maintenance at enterprise scale
-
Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Helm, Ansible β provisioning, configuration management, and drift detection
-
Container platforms: Docker and Kubernetes β build, deployment, and runtime management in production environment
-
DevSecOps: security scanning (SAST/DAST), secrets management (HashiCorp Vault or equivalent), policy-as-code (OPA, Sentinel)
-
Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP β provisioning, networking, IAM, and cost-aware infrastructure management
-
Scripting and automation: Python, Bash, PowerShell β automating deployment workflows and operational tasks
-
Monitoring integration: ability to instrument pipelines with observability hooks compatible with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or equivalent
-
Change management: familiarity with ITSM processes and structured change control in enterprise environments
-
Collaboration skills: able to work effectively with Systems Engineers, SRE, and customer-facing teams in a fast-moving environment
-
Documentation: clear, maintainable runbooks and pipeline documentation β written for both technical peers and operational teams
