Role Description

The DevOps Engineer operates under minimal supervision in an agile team environment and plays a pivotal role in driving the implementation and evolution of our DevOps practices, ensuring seamless collaboration between development and operations teams. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining NGL's DevOps practice, driving efficiency, scalability, and reliability across our software delivery lifecycle.

  • Automation and Tooling
    • Design, implement, and maintain automated deployment and configuration management systems.
    • Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate tools and technologies to enhance the DevOps toolchain.
    • Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
    • Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid and reliable software delivery.
    • Implement and maintain version control systems and branching strategies.
    • Monitor and improve code quality, test coverage, and deployment success rates.
  • Infrastructure Management
    • Design and manage scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure in cloud environments (AWS emphasis preferred).
    • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure proactive issue resolution.
    • Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and reliability.
  • Security and Compliance
    • Implement security best practices throughout the development and deployment processes.
    • Collaborate with security teams to conduct regular security assessments and audits.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Documentation and Training
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation for DevOps processes, configurations, and procedures.
    • Provide training and support to development and operations teams on DevOps best practices.
  • Other
    • Participate in Quarterly Planning, Daily Stand-up, Release Planning, Review and Retrospective meetings.
    • Be a positive influence for other team members; promote goodwill amongst IT and other departments of the organization.
    • Represent and communicate the mission and values of NGL and comply with its conduct policy, security policy and confidentiality expectations.
    • Effectively facilitate meetings with stakeholders, team members and vendors.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of DevOps principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Strong expertise in automation, scripting, and programming languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Java, Typescript).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and CI/CD tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and logging solutions.

Requirements

  • Preferred: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Kubernetes Certified Administrator, or similar.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of overall IT work experience required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in DevOps required.
