[Hiring] UI/UX Researcher & Designer @Intelerad

2d ago - Intelerad is hiring a remote UI/UX Researcher & Designer. πŸ’Έ Salary: cad 60,000 - 80,000 per year πŸ“Location: Canada

Role Description

As a UI/UX Researcher & Designer at Intelerad, you will play a meaningful role in shaping how clinicians and healthcare professionals interact with our medical imaging products. You will independently own research and design for one or more product areas, partnering with product managers, developers, and end users to turn complex clinical needs and business goals into intuitive, high-quality experiences, from early discovery through to successful release.

You will bring a balanced skillset, grounding design decisions in rigorous user research, translating insight into compelling, usable interfaces, and helping raise the quality of UX practice across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research:
    • Independently plan and lead qualitative and quantitative UX research across the product lifecycle.
    • Use field studies, direct observation, interviews, workflow and task analysis, usability testing, and surveys to identify opportunities, validate assumptions, and shape product direction.
    • Set research priorities and methodologies for your product area in partnership with product management.
    • Recruit participants and moderate sessions with clinicians and other end users.
    • Synthesize research data into personas, journey maps, and actionable insights.
    • Translate findings into design and product recommendations that influence roadmap decisions.
    • Own and evolve our research repository so findings stay discoverable and continue to inform current and future work.
  • Design:
    • Lead the design of intuitive interfaces from concept to release, grounded in a strong understanding of user goals, clinical workflows, and product requirements.
    • Deliver screen layouts, interaction patterns, and UI elements that meet usability and business standards.
    • Own design work end-to-end: produce wireframes, storyboards, functional prototypes, and detailed specifications.
    • Drive the creation and adoption of design standards that ensure consistency across the product suite.
    • Guide developers through UI design decisions and trade-offs during implementation.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Build trust with users through deep empathy, active listening, and strong facilitation.
    • Present design and research findings clearly to audiences ranging from engineers to product leadership.
    • Lead design and research critique sessions to ensure alignment and quality.
    • Mentor and provide feedback to less experienced designers and researchers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience (UX) Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors / Ergonomics, Psychology, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in UI/UX design and UX research, with a portfolio demonstrating both strong web and mobile design capabilities and end-to-end research work.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools, including Figma and/or Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated expertise in wireframing, prototyping, and producing design specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience independently planning and leading user research using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Familiarity with UX research tools and repositories (e.g., Dovetail, UserZoom, Optimal Workshop, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of HCI principles and design best practices.
  • Proven ability to communicate design rationale and research findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications & Special Requirements

  • Experience prototyping with HTML and CSS or similar front-end tools.
  • Experience in healthcare IT or complex enterprise software; experience conducting research with clinical or healthcare users.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Familiarity with survey design and basic statistical analysis.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Experience mentoring or informally guiding other designers or researchers.

Travel Requirements

  • None

Compensation

  • The base pay for this position ranges from $60,000 to $80,000/yr CAD.
  • Pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Bonus and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
