Role Description
The SharePoint and Web Design Specialist serves as the primary technical and web-design resource for the Patient Safety Programβs three managed SharePoint sites. This position administers and improves the sites, maintains program content, supports users, and helps staff preserve critical knowledge during personnel transitions. The role ensures that program personnel, Military Treatment Facility (MTF) patient safety managers, and other authorized users can find current, usable, and accessible patient-safety information.
Qualifications

1+ years' experience administering SharePoint sites and developing user-focused pages and content.

Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 collaboration tools, document management, and workflow improvement.

Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility principles for digital content.

Strong writing, training, organization, and customer-support skills.

Ability to work independently, manage competing requests, and coordinate with program staff and technical support teams.

Must be a US Citizen.

This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; may occasionally require standing or moving about the office for extended periods.

Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
Requirements

Administer and modernize SharePoint sites.

Manage digital content. Work with program staff to organize and present guidance, tools, training materials, announcements, and other resources.

Identify outdated or inaccurate information and coordinate updates with the appropriate content owners.

Support users and troubleshoot issues.
-
Assist program staff, MTF patient safety managers, and other authorized users with access, navigation, documents, links, and site functionality.

Investigate issues and escalate unresolved technical problems through the help desk.

Build knowledge-management resources.

Create FAQs, subject-matter-expert reference materials, and process guidance.

Train incoming personnel on established workflows and provide historical context that supports consistent handoffs and continuity of operations.

Support shared-mailbox transitions.

Train personnel assigned to manage the program mailbox on inquiry triage, routing, and recurring scenarios.

Provide reference guidance and historical context.

This position supports the process but is not its primary day-to-day owner.

Support newsletter publication.

Assist with newsletter content and digital presentation.

Publish an accessible SharePoint version of the email newsletter and train personnel responsible for collecting content and sustaining the publication process.

Incorporate accessibility. Apply Section 508 considerations to SharePoint pages, documents, links, and content updates so program resources are usable by a broad range of authorized users.

Improve workflows. Identify opportunities to streamline content management, information sharing, and recurring tasks using SharePoint and Microsoft 365 capabilities.

Evaluate changes for practicality and sustainability before implementation.

Use research tools responsibly.

Research technical topics and potential troubleshooting approaches, including with generative AI when appropriate.

Validate recommendations before applying them and escalate issues when needed.

The specialist keeps the programβs SharePoint sites reliable and current; makes patient-safety resources easier to find and use; supports accessible digital communications; reduces disruption during staff turnover; and helps program personnel maintain efficient, consistent workflows.
