Role Description

As a Senior Design Engineer at Deel, you will be responsible for:

• Building the system
• Architecting the design system, tokens, and components as the substrate AI generates against.
• Designing prompt libraries, patterns, and agent workflows that turn design intent into production-ready UI with minimal human assembly.
• Proving it by designing
• Staying a practising designer, exploring concepts quickly, and designing real interfaces.
• Prototyping in production front-end code, serving as the first and toughest test of whether the system produces excellent, shippable work.
• Owning quality, guardrails, and evaluations
• Defining production-readiness criteria for AI-generated UI.
• Setting design-to-code fidelity benchmarks, regression safeguards, and evaluation methods that keep AI output honest.
• Driving the AI workflow across the design organization
• Working with design leadership to maintain, evolve, and roll out the AI-native workflow across the whole design organization.
• Treating it as an ongoing responsibility, driving adoption, keeping standards current as tools change, and embedding the workflow across teams.
• Working across functions
• Collaborating closely with Engineering, Product, and design-system contributors.
• Keeping the system round-tripping to shared surfaces such as Figma, ensuring AI-accelerated output stays visible and open to feedback.
• Pushing into generative UI
• Prototyping and evaluating adaptive, AI-generated interfaces as a product capability.
• Helping decide where they belong on the roadmap.
• Leveling up the team
• Turning what works into playbooks, prompt libraries, and enablement.
• Ensuring the wider design organization builds on the system and does not depend on you.

Qualifications

• You move fluidly between design and code.
• You have real taste for layout, typography, interaction, and motion.
• You are comfortable writing TypeScript and React, including HTML, CSS, and animation.
• You have built or extended design systems that others rely on.
• You already use AI design and coding tools in real work.
• You have 7+ years in product design and front-end engineering on complex products.
• You are comfortable with ambiguity and set standards others follow.

Requirements

• You can design something well, build it yourself, and use AI to move quickly between the two.
• You prototype fast and get from idea to working interface in hours rather than days, moving between Figma and code.
