Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Product Designer to support the Air Force in developing and operating modernized applications used daily by the warfighter. This initiative mirrors Silicon Valley processes to quickly deploy new capabilities. Candidates must be passionate, energized, and excited to work on modern architectures and solve challenging problems for our clients.

Conduct user research — interviews, contextual inquiries, and usage/behavior analysis — with customer stakeholders and end users of the team’s web application.

Translate research findings into actionable UX recommendations, working closely with the team’s front-end and full-stack engineers.

Own end-to-end UX/UI design for the team’s web application, including wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.

Establish and maintain a consistent design system/component library and interaction patterns for the application.

Drive the single-pane-of-glass consolidation of the application’s user experience.

Ensure designs meet federal accessibility (Section 508/WCAG) standards.

Serve as the team’s design resource, partnering with product owners, engineers, and government stakeholders.

Participate in agile delivery (sprint planning, design reviews, demos) with the broader web development team.
Qualifications

5+ years of professional experience in product/UX design, including conducting user research and translating it into design decisions.

Demonstrated experience conducting user interviews, usability testing, and behavioral/usage analysis.

Strong proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma or similar).

Experience designing for and maintaining design systems/component libraries used by engineering teams.

Working knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508/WCAG) and their application to design decisions.

Ability to operate as a team’s sole or primary design resource, balancing research, design, and stakeholder collaboration.

Strong communication skills, able to present research findings and design rationale clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements

Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs, particularly Platform One or other DoD software factory environments.

Experience designing for technical/developer-facing tools or data-heavy applications (e.g., dashboards, search/browse interfaces for large datasets).

Familiarity with the software supply chain/container ecosystem relevant to the data this application surfaces.

Experience consolidating or redesigning legacy interfaces into a modern, unified product.

Experience collaborating directly with government or enterprise customers on research and design validation.
