Role Description
Are you a skilled Power Designer looking to join a supportive, passionate team? Sigma Technologies has multiple Designer positions available that REQUIRE Overhead Electrical Power Distribution Design Experience.
- Provide make-ready/joint-use and general distribution design services to power utility companies.
- Execute work orders for the design of power distribution infrastructure while meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
- Perform end-to-end Distribution and/or Make-Ready/Joint-use Design, applying established design guidelines, processes, and procedures.
- Collaborate with team and/or cross-functional members to solve problems encountered throughout the design process.
- Perform Permitting/Easement duties: research pole ownership, right of way, property rights, and permit requirements.
- Communicate with outside parties to obtain right-of-way approvals and easements.
- Utilize related design programs including AutoCAD, MicroStation, BOUD, DDS (Distribution Design Studio), PoleForeman, O-Calc, Katapult, or other customer-specific software.
- Perform quality control on others’ work at times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s degree or higher is acceptable but not required.
- Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience in power utility distribution design is required.
- Management may consider other combinations of education and experience as needed.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Willing to take a background check/drug test/driving record check.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness to travel overnight during the week if needed (minimal travel required).
- Experience with CAD, MicroStation, or other related design programs is required.
- Knowledge of power distribution system construction and planning procedures.
- Ability to learn and operate customer-based proprietary software.
