[Hiring] Freelance Animator @Electric Square

Role Description

We are currently looking for an Animator to join an exciting project at Lively. An Animator at Lively will work as part of the animation team on the character pipeline from rigging to implementing gameplay character move sets. This hybrid technical and creative role will involve:

• Building flexible game-ready rigs to bring a range of high-energy characters to life.
• Working on high impact action motions and personality-packed idle states.
• Reporting into the Lead Artist.
• Collaborating with the Lead Technical Animator to establish a reliable pipeline for gameplay and performance animations.
• Creating and integrating world-class character animations in the game engine.
• Applying animation principles to create high-quality animations while optimizing them to meet technical constraints.
• Making changes based on artistic direction.
• Collaborating closely with the Lead Artist, Game Designers, and Programmers to understand quality objectives, gameplay intentions, and engine capabilities.
• Communicating with Game Designers and Programmers to find effective solutions or fix issues and achieve goals on time.
• Prototyping and previsualizing animation systems and ideas for animation and gameplay-related discussions.
• Supporting the requirements for in-game cut-scenes and performance animation.

Qualifications

• Animation production experience on at least one shipped mobile game.
• Experience or a portfolio showcasing stylized motion.
• Advanced skills in games development software such as Maya & Unity Game Engine.
• Exceptional key frame animation skills with a reel showcasing world-leading animation quality.
• Expert level understanding of the principles of animation.
• Strong understanding of animation and its application to gameplay.
• A passion for character animation, playing games, and film.
• Traditional art skills are a distinct advantage.
• A passionate and self-motivated individual with a willingness to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and be responsive to deadlines.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
