Role Description
The Art Supervisor is an innovative creative leader responsible for developing strategically grounded, high-quality creative work across print, retail, digital, social, and video channels. This role partners closely with Creative, Client Services, and other cross-functional teams to translate client objectives and brand strategy into compelling concepts, design systems, and tactical executions. The Art Supervisor brings strong design instincts, healthcare communications awareness, and a sharp eye for craft, while helping guide the creative process from concept through final production.
Job Responsibilities

Develop strategic creative concepts and activations, design systems, layouts, and executions from brief through final delivery across print, digital, retail, and video channels.

Translate client objectives, brand strategy, and audience insights into creative solutions that are visually compelling, strategically grounded, brand-relevant, and aligned to healthcare communications best practices.

Design, revise, proof, and refine creative work, ensuring accuracy, originality, usability, consistency, and quality across all deliverables.

Supervise creative output produced by assigned designers and freelancers, providing clear direction, constructive critique, and quality control throughout the creative process.

Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports by coaching performance, setting expectations, supporting growth opportunities, and providing guidance when standards are not being met.

Partner with Creative, Client Service, and integrated teams to develop effective campaign materials and creative solutions that meet client goals.

Present creative concepts and final executions internally and externally, clearly articulating how design decisions support user needs, business goals, brand standards, technical requirements, and project objectives.

Interpret internal and client feedback, ask relevant UX and strategic questions when appropriate, and apply direction in ways that strengthen the final creative product.

Review and interpret wireframes into comprehensive designs, applying current UX and digital best practices across websites, emails, banner ads, and other digital channels.

Participate in new business pitches, project scoping, estimating, and defining creative deliverables under the guidance of senior creative leadership.

Assist with onboarding and training new full-time and freelance creative team members, helping them understand Spectrumβs standards, processes, and expectations.

Maintain up-to-date weekly time tracking in accordance with agency policy and ensure direct reports remain compliant with time tracking expectations.

Ensure activities and operations are performed in compliance with corporate and departmental standard operating procedures, as well as applicable FDA, IRB, EC, and other governmental regulations.

Support global client needs, including occasional flexibility for evening and weekend work, as required.
Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years of digital art/design direction experience, preferably within an agency and/or healthcare communications environment.

Bachelorβs degree, or equivalent experience, in design, visual communications, or a related discipline.

Compelling online portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, conceptual strength, visual craft, branding expertise, and execution across print, digital, and integrated channels.

Strong foundation in graphic design, including branding, typography, layout, print production, digital design, conceptual development, and pre-production/post-production processes.

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

Understanding of current UX, digital, and channel-specific best practices, including experience designing websites, emails, banner ads, and other digital assets.

Ability to analyze and synthesize complex design challenges, apply a strategic approach to problem solving, and develop informed creative solutions.

Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate creative rationale clearly, respond thoughtfully to client questions, and support a strong creative point of view.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple brands, accounts, categories, audiences, and deadlines while maintaining high creative standards and attention to detail.

Experience managing, mentoring, and fostering the growth of creative team members or direct reports.

Collaborative, self-motivated, energetic, curious, flexible, diplomatic, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to inspire work across disciplines.

The anticipated salary range for this position will be $100,000 β $135,000.
