Role Description

As the VP of Data, you will lead the data strategy to enhance our funding products and SaaS applications. You will harness data to drive our product innovation and improve client outcomes.

  • Define and implement a data strategy aligned with re:cap's mission to provide cutting-edge funding solutions and automate financial operations
  • Build data products that are tightly integrated into our customer-facing applications together with our Engineering team
  • Manage the development and deployment of machine learning models and AI solutions to automate financial operations for our customers and generate insights
  • Improve data quality processes and establish robust data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with financial regulations
  • Provide strategic guidance to founders and board members on data-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and market opportunities
  • Engage with key stakeholders across the organization to understand their data needs and ensure that data initiatives support their objectives
  • Lead our teams of data engineers, data scientists, and financial data specialists to derive actionable insights that enhance product offerings and customer experiences
  • Work closely with our Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams to integrate data solutions into our SaaS platform and funding products

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in data management, analytics or data science roles, with a focus on fintech or SaaS
  • 4+ years of leadership experience, preferable in a fast-growing environment, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making & scaling data teams
  • Proficient in data analytics with SQL and Python, with experience in DuckDB and Parquet being a plus
  • Expertise in machine learning frameworks and know how to bring ML applications into production
  • Ability to structure and optimize processes to measure and continuously enhance data quality and machine learning pipelines
  • Deep experience with modern data stack architectures, including:
    • Storage: GBQ, Snowflake, Databricks, …
    • Integration: Airbyte, Fivetran, …
    • Transformation: dbt
    • Orchestration: Dagster, Airflow, …
  • Understanding of data architectures that can handle high-volume data pipelines and analytics
  • Ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking about data-driven financial solutions and SaaS applications
  • Good understanding of the fintech landscape, with particular experience with funding solutions and SaaS being a plus
  • Familiarity with compliance considerations related to financial data and GDPR
  • Focus on driving business success through data initiatives
  • Innovative and forward-thinking, with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance financial insight
  • Collaborative mindset and thrive in a dynamic startup environment
  • Fluency in English, German is a plus
  • Valid EU work permit and reside within the EU. re:cap does not offer visa or relocation support at the moment
