Role Description

The Senior Manager, Quantitative Science will be responsible for leading and executing analyses that measure the biological impacts of Audubon's initiatives.

  • Develop and apply conservation impact evaluation metrics
  • Model population trends and drivers
  • Develop monitoring plans and study designs
  • Work with bird occurrence- and count-based datasets
  • Provide quantitative analysis services in cross-functional teams
  • Maintain positive collaborative relationships with partners
  • Coordinate or manage projects, delegating and reviewing work
  • Coach or train colleagues on quantitative analysis and writing
  • Interface with partners and collaborators beyond Audon’s network
  • Communicate science across the Audubon network and public outlets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biostatistics, natural resources, or related field required
  • Master’s or Ph.D. preferred
  • 7+ years of professional experience, including 2-4 years designing and running complex models in R
  • Demonstrated experience applying Bayesian and Frequentist approaches to statistical analysis
  • Experience with Autonomous Recording Units preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage teams and projects
  • Experience with spatial analyses in R, ArcGIS, QGIS preferred
  • Commitment to Audubon’s organizational values and advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging

Requirements

  • Ability to synthesize and communicate technical information to diverse audiences
  • Experience in high performance computing and version control software
  • Experience in ornithology, especially birds of North America
  • Interest in promoting bird conservation across the US and Americas

Benefits

  • Salary range based on geo-differentials: $72,000 - $80,500/year
  • National $81,000 - $90,500/year for specific locations
  • $90,000 - $100,500/year for NYC, San Francisco, Seattle
