[Hiring] Senior Data Engineer @American IT Systems

Role Description

The Client has a poorly performing PowerBI environment that reports on Sales & Revenue data and needs someone to review:

• Source Systems via Informatica -> Snowflake
• Snowflake -> PowerBI Semantic Model (Dataflows)
• PowerBI Semantic Model -> Reports and Dashboards

They need someone that can review the overall architecture, suggest ways to shift transformations upstream (during load to Snowflake), and implement the PowerBI Dataflows to fix the problem.

• Data ingestion frameworks
• Data transformation best practices (analytics engineering patterns)
• Data Modelling
• Dimensional modelling
• Semantic modelling / business layer modelling
• ER (Entity–Relationship) modelling
• Understanding of layered architectures (e.g. staging → core → semantic)
• AWS basics (S3, Glue, Athena) — used in TR data platform contexts
• Cloud warehouse performance tuning (Snowflake)
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions etc.)
• Data quality checks (validation, deduplication, consistency)
• Data lineage & governance fundamentals
• Data mapping & automated transformations
• Understanding of analytics workflows and business data needs (from Analytics Engineering guidance)
• Working with Master Data concepts
• Understanding of how reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, BO) interact with semantic models
• Knowledge of star schema requirements for BI tools
• Ability to design datasets for self‑service analytics
• Handling row‑level & object‑level security in BI tools
• Experience working with tools like - Power BI dataflows & semantic models
