Role Description

The Empire Center is looking for a talented individual for our policy data analyst role. Working as a policy data analyst at the Empire Center provides a unique work experience at a leading state-based think tank.

The Empire Center is dedicated to making New York a better place to live and work by promoting public policy reforms grounded in free-market principles, personal responsibility, and the ideals of effective and accountable government. Through research papers, policy briefings, commentaries, and conferences, the think tank seeks to educate and inform New York State policymakers, news media, and the general public.

The Empire Center’s policy data analysts are paired with Empire Center researchers whose focuses include:

• Taxes
• Government transparency
• Education
• Energy
• Healthcare

Primarily, policy data analysts will work alongside researchers, providing data analysis and visualizations for projects in these areas.

Qualifications

• Experience with Tableau (or other data visualization software)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Extremely strong attention to detail
• Proven record of working independently

Requirements

• Eligible candidates must be geographically located in and authorized to work in the United States through the duration of the program.
• Attending the entirety of the online and on-site KIP programming is required for both full and part-time participants.

Benefits

• Stipend of $7,500 for full-time participants working approximately 32 hours per week
• Stipend of $5,500 for part-time participants working approximately 24 hours per week
