Role Description

Deeter Analytics is a privately held investment research and trading firm managing its own capital across public markets. We are hiring a Junior Quantitative Researcher to turn desk hunches into evidence and signals that traders can use.

Your responsibilities will include:

• The question queue: Scope the question, run the study, and provide answers based on data.
• The signal shelf: Maintain a library of signals and screens with documented edges and live tracking.
• The evidence standard: Conduct event studies and analyses that hold up to scrutiny.
• The quant read: Provide recurring numbers that feed into the desk's market picture.
• The research data: Organize clean, point-in-time datasets for traceability.
• AI leverage: Utilize modern AI tools for testing ideas and improving code quality.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated judgment and rigorous quantitative work.
• Ability to think in base rates and sample sizes.
• Hypothesis-driven approach to research.
• Ability to translate complex data into understandable insights.
• Comfortable delivering negative results when necessary.
• Genuine curiosity about market dynamics.

Requirements

• Ability to work at desk speed without cutting corners.

Core Skills

• Statistics and probability, including regression and hypothesis testing.
• Proficiency in Python data stack (pandas, NumPy, SQL).
• Knowledge of backtest and event-study hygiene.
• Comfort with market data, including prices and fundamentals.
• Understanding of machine learning as a tool.
• Crisp communication skills for conveying research findings.
