We’re looking for a Data Scientist who wants to automate routine decisions and empower our humans to be more efficient. You’ll work alongside our Detection and Response (D&R) Engineering and Security Operations Center (SOC) teams to deliver quick, iterative wins that improve how we detect and investigate cybersecurity incidents.

Qualifications

• Ability and desire to collaborate and work with teams throughout the organization to foster research and innovation
• Ability to communicate technical data science concepts to various audiences, especially non-data science experts
• Passion for finding order and meaning in large, chaotic data sets and amorphous problem domains
• Deep proficiency with Python (pandas, numpy, sklearn) and SQL for model development
• Knowledge of statistics (distributions, hypothesis testing, probability, etc.)
• Proficiency in a few popular data science and visualization frameworks such as scikit-learn, plotly, pandas, and numpy, and the underlying statistics that drive them
• Understanding of data engineering and proven experience with cloud deployment best practices
• 3+ years of data science experience creating models, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, recommending next steps, and summarizing key results to stakeholders
• A Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience in AI/ML)

Requirements

• Support our security analysts by continuously improving alert quality, workflow efficiency, and detection capabilities through advanced analytics, machine learning, and Gen AI
• Work across our operations, engineering, and service delivery teams, ensuring Expel can easily deploy, monitor, and manage all of our machine learning capabilities
• Drive business decisions by translating data insights into clear, actionable knowledge for the organization
• Foster an atmosphere of experimentation, continuous learning, and improvement
• Maintain and enhance our existing models while supporting new data science initiatives
• Contribute to Expel’s external voice through blog posts and conference speaking

Company Description

The base salary range for this role is between $118,400 USD and $171,700 USD + bonus eligibility and equity. While the full salary band reflects our long-term compensation framework, we're primarily targeting candidates between $135,000 and $160,000 based on experience, skills, and market data.
