Role Description

You are passionate about leveraging data, machine learning/AI and operational execution to improve patient outcomes. Your mandate will be to build a world-class data science function that develops, deploys and maintains data marts and machine learning models as well as assesses the impact of our clinical interventions. You care deeply about outcomes and impact. You are a deeply collaborative leader who can help bridge the gap between clinical strategy, operational execution and technology. You have rich experience with health plan (claims, eligibility, pharmacy) and clinical (EMR, HIE) data. You can build data-marts in DBT and leverage those data marts to build new machine learning models.

The Principal Data Scientist creates the foundation for our data science platform. Your role will be to help lead the data and analytics function and own the predictive modeling capabilities end to end. You will need a deep understanding of the statistics behind the machine learning models as well as experience in the ML Ops side to productionalize and scale model creation and maintenance. You will also join a “workstream” and provide analytical support for a domain at Oasis. This will involve close collaboration with Executive leaders, Operations, Clinical, Product, Finance and the rest of the tech team. This will also require building sophisticated analytical data models to help support the overall data needs of the organization.

As a Principal Data Scientist, you will:

• Own our machine learning strategy and execution
• Build foundational infrastructure that will allow Oasis to scale its ML implementations
• Own MLOps Engineering – be able to automate, deploy, and monitor ML models
• Join an Oasis “workstream” and become the trusted analytics expert for that function
• Build analytics data models in DBT to support underlying analytics
• Identify additional sources of data we can use to identify / risk stratify patients for intervention, and understand the impact of our program
• Build out predictive models to identify target patient cohorts
• Utilize AI/LLMs to advance patient and provider engagement
• Analyze clinical data we receive from payors and providers
• Analyze clinical program performance
• Analyze workflow and operational data
• Develop the analytics layer to support executive and operational dashboards

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in healthcare analytics with hands-on expertise in real-world data
• Advanced SQL skills for complex data analysis and reporting
• Advanced Python skills for building and productionalizing machine learning models
• Experience in developing impactful BI reports and dashboards for end-users
• Quick learner with a demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies
• Comfortable working in the ambiguity and rapid change of a startup environment
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical teams, including operational and clinical teams
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects effectively

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience at a health plan or Managed Service Organization
• Familiarity with Medicare Advantage populations and their unique healthcare needs
• Background in value-based care organizations
• Experience with the Oasis data stack, including AWS, DBT, and Snowflake
