Role Description
We are hiring a Data Scientist to our Search & Discovery team in Portugal!

As a Data Scientist on our team, you'll play a key role in shaping how millions of users explore and connect with personalized recommendations, smart search capabilities, and curated suggestions — all within the Wellhub ecosystem. From building intuitive discovery tools to enhancing user journeys, your work will directly impact how people engage with their wellbeing.
- Lead the design, development and deployment of scalable and reliable machine learning algorithms to enhance the search and recommendation experience for Wellhub users, helping them discover new wellness experiences;
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models, from ideation and prototyping to production deployment and monitoring;
- Ensure high-quality search and recommendation performance by leveraging A/B testing, online metrics, and offline evaluations;
- Drive user behavior studies to understand user preferences, evolving trends, and emerging topics to continuously improve personalization strategies;
- Collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to measure and optimize the business impact of new personalization algorithms;
- Partner with cross-functional teams to define and execute strategies that enhance user engagement and satisfaction;
- Present technical findings internally to educate Wellhubbers and externally to inspire and recruit top talent in data science and machine learning;
- Live the mission: inspire and empower others by genuinely caring for your own wellbeing and your colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
- A true team player, with at least 2 years of experience working as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, or Software Engineer in the industry;
- Solid programming skills with proficiency in Python and SQL;
- Deep understanding of machine learning fundamentals;
- Passionate to learn new technologies;
- Experience in development of analytical solutions with large scale data processing technologies (e.g. Spark);
- Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts;
- Great communication skills, both written and oral. Comfortable presenting findings to the team;
- You are able to articulate ideas clearly when speaking to groups in English.
Requirements
- Prior experience in data science and with Python are mandatory requirements.
