Role Description

Veeam is building an AI-ready, agentic data governance program designed to make trusted data accessible, reliable, and actionable across the enterprise. As data flows through our Databricks Lakehouse into executive reporting and AI-powered applications, we're transforming how data governance operates through automation, continuous trust measurement, and intelligent workflows.

We are now looking for a Data and AI Governance, Senior Manager to help turn this vision into a scalable, operational reality.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, AI-Ready Data Governance, you'll play a critical hands-on role in designing, building, and operating the technical capabilities behind Veeam's data governance strategy. You'll develop AI agents, automated governance workflows, catalog integrations, trust-scoring systems, and intelligent escalation mechanisms that make governance continuous rather than a one-time exercise.

This is a senior individual-contributor position offering significant technical ownership and the opportunity to shape how AI-enabled governance operates across the organization. You'll partner closely with the Senior Director, who owns the overall strategy and program direction, while bringing your own technical judgment, curiosity, and experimentation to the implementation.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building solutions, exploring emerging AI capabilities, and replacing manual governance activities with intelligent automation. This is not a traditional policy-administration, catalog-maintenance, or people-management role.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and operate Veeam's AI-ready Data Governance and Trust Operating Process within the Governance Hub.
• Develop automated data discovery and lineage capabilities to identify authoritative data sources and critical data assets.
• Build governance workflows that establish clear data ownership, business definitions, and accountability.
• Design and implement continuous, AI-driven data trust scoring systems.
• Develop automated notification, escalation, and remediation workflows.
• Lead the technical implementation and integration of Databricks Unity Catalog and data catalog platforms.
• Build, register, deploy, and maintain AI agents and automated pipelines.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate governance requirements into scalable solutions.
• Experiment with emerging agentic AI capabilities to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Lead complex, cross-functional governance initiatives from technical design through implementation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to colleagues and data stewards.
• Continuously improve governance effectiveness by monitoring data trust and operational outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in data governance, data engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• Proven hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying production AI agents and automated pipelines.
• Advanced technical expertise in Databricks Unity Catalog and data catalog platforms.
• Strong understanding of AI asset governance principles.
• Demonstrated proficiency using AI-powered development and automation tools.
• Strong understanding of modern data governance frameworks and operating models.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous business and technical challenges into scalable solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Strong analytical thinking, technical problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and driving continuous improvement.
• Direct experience with v-Power or comparable CRM extension platforms is a plus.
• Experience leading change management initiatives is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview for data classification is an advantage.
• Knowledge of SOC 2 Type II audit requirements is a plus.
• Experience working in rapidly growing, private equity-backed, or pre-IPO technology organizations is preferred.
• Exposure to data mesh architectures or master data management is beneficial.
• Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK frameworks is an advantage.
