Role Description

Our Data Analytics Internship Program offers a dynamic 10-week experience designed to provide undergraduate students with hands-on exposure to enterprise data, analytics, and business intelligence within a leading financial institution. Interns will work alongside data engineers, analytics professionals, and business stakeholders to transform data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization.

• Gain practical experience in data visualization, reporting, analytics, data integration, and modern data platforms.
• Responsibilities may include developing dashboards, analyzing business trends, preparing and transforming data, supporting reporting initiatives, and helping deliver insights that drive measurable business outcomes.

Key Program Components:

• Onboarding Week: Kick off your internship with orientation, training sessions, networking opportunities, and an introduction to SouthState's data and analytics ecosystem.
• Hands-On Analytics Experience: Work directly with analytics and data teams on real projects that support business decision-making across the organization.
• Mentorship & Support: Receive guidance and coaching from experienced data professionals who will help you build technical and professional skills.
• Speaker Series: Learn from technology, analytics, and business leaders about industry trends, data-driven decision-making, and emerging technologies.
• Networking Opportunities: Build relationships with peers, leaders, and professionals across SouthState while expanding your professional network.

In This Role, You Will:

• Participate in internship program activities, including workshops, technical training sessions, and special projects.
• Assist with data analysis, dashboard development, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives.
• Create and enhance reports and visualizations using Power BI and related analytics tools.
• Work with data engineers, analysts, and business partners to gather requirements, prepare data, and deliver actionable insights.
• Utilize SQL and enterprise data platforms to analyze information and support data-driven decision-making.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Current undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Candidates with a graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028 preferred. 3.4 GPA preferred.
• Technical Skills: Experience with Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills required. Exposure to Power BI, SQL, Snowflake, Streamlit, Python, R, or other data warehousing and visualization tools is preferred.
• Attributes: Curious, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and passionate about using data to solve business problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Requirements

• Complete mandatory new hire compliance training and New Employee Orientation.
• Ability to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports.
• The role requires extended time using a computer, which can be accommodated by sitting or standing at an appropriate workstation.

• In accordance with Colorado and Virginia law: Pay for this position is anticipated to be $20 per hour.
