Role Description

We are seeking a Lead Data Analyst to own the analytical direction for a domain, drive its metric definitions, and lead a small team of data analysts. This position plays a key role in supporting the Analytics & Reporting department and reports to the Manager, Analytics & Reporting (with a dotted line to the Director, Data & Analytics ), ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the analytical direction for a domain: decide the canonical metrics, authoritative sources, and validation required before results are shared.
• Drive metric definitions for the domain into the dbt layer, ensuring definitions are traceable and well-documented.
• Manage two to three data analysts as direct reports, including 1:1s, SQL reviews, growth plans, and performance conversations.
• Own the sequencing of analysis in the domain, negotiating with operations leads and account teams on priorities.
• Address complex questions requiring patient-level reconstruction and identified mechanisms in the data.
• Maintain shared metrics across domains by collaborating with other leads and BI.
• Educate analysts on data integrity issues, such as joins that drop rows across systems.

Qualifications

• A degree is optional; equivalent hands-on experience is acceptable.
• Typically 7 to 10 years of hands-on data analysis experience.
• Formal people-management experience is welcome but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proven track record as a senior analyst on ambiguous business questions.
• Deep SQL proficiency, able to critically read and validate SQL queries.
• Experience setting well-documented metric definitions.
• Experience managing or leading analysts.
• Strong judgment about results, validating findings against secondary sources.
• Able to communicate findings effectively to various stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in an unfinished stack with ongoing migrations.
• Understanding of PHI, masking, BAAs, and role-based access.
• Strong understanding of healthcare data, PHI, and HIPAA requirements.
• Proven ability to lead a small team and drive performance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and data-driven decision-making skills.

Preferred

• Experience in pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, healthcare, or payer data.
• Manufacturer patient-support or hub program experience.
• dbt experience, including writing and testing models.
• Looker and LookML experience or experience migrating reporting tools.
• Python for analysis where SQL is not suitable.
• Experience owning a metric layer or definitions catalog.

Work Environment

• Location: Columbus, OH or remote (US).
• Schedule: Full-time, may require flexibility for urgent client or executive questions.
• Regular meetings with the Analytics & Reporting team and leadership.
• Analysts spend time on the distribution floor and listening to patient calls.
