UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Purpose of the Position:

The Business Insights Senior Analyst leverages analytical expertise to drive strategic decision-making across the organization. This role interprets complex data sets to formulate and provide actionable insights and collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather data needs and create reports and dashboards to enhance business performance.

This position leads development and execution of best practices in the visual delivery of information through dashboards and ad-hoc analyses, using Azure Databricks, SQL, Power BI or similar solutions/systems.

What you’ll do

  1. Strategic Business Analysis: Collaborate with business partners to gain an in-depth understanding of their strategy, processes, services, and context. Analyze activities on a large scale and shape business solutions to achieve desired results. Conduct deep-dive analyses within specific data domains proactively and reactively, to distill a flurry of information into easy-to-understand and actionable summaries.
  2. Data Visualization: Design, build and maintain intuitive dashboards in Power BI to drive decisions through data. Create operational reports in Power BI using visualization best practices.
  3. Requirements Gathering and Report Creation: Oversee business process analysis, execute collection, elicitation, and recording of business requirements. Work closely with senior business heads to understand business questions and problems to be solved and develop and execute program strategy. Facilitate negotiations and resolve conflicting priorities with client groups.   
  4. Data-Driven Decision-Making: Evaluate and analyze data, trends, and predictive modeling. Provide insights and recommendations to support senior leadership decision-making. Create and carry out test plans for specific projects.
  5. ETL, Data Aggregation, and Data Warehousing: Build and maintain Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes to aggregate and transform data. 
  6. Stakeholder Relationship Building: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Recognize improvement opportunities, adapt to organizational changes, and capitalize on improvement opportunities. 
  7. Data Engineering Collaboration: Partner with data engineering to assist with reporting layer requirements, design, testing and optimization. 
  8. Continuous Learning and Innovation: Keep up with industry trends in data science and analytics to drive innovation and improve the organization’s outcomes. 
  9. Process Improvement and Standardization: Identify and address operational, financial, and technological risks within the business. Standardize cross-departmental data definitions, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and calculations. Identify innovative ways to increase business partner satisfaction.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Business, Economics, Math, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • 1 year of data analytics experience in a medium-to-large company with demonstrated ability to navigate complex data environments. 
  • Highly proficient with visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI) and ability to extract insight and provide recommendations to senior leadership.  
  • Experience using statistical and data mining languages (i.e., t-SQL, PL/SQL, Python, R, SAS). 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with senior management.  
  • Ability to use various modeling techniques to optimize resource allocation and help improve successful student outcomes. 
  • Business understanding to support independent execution of predefined roadmap. 
  • Ability to develop and implement operational models and A/B testing techniques. 
  • Capable of writing complex DAX queries, troubleshooting, and maintaining reports, validating data, and implementing quality checks along with proper level of documentation as required for reporting and compliance requests. 
  • Strong operational, organizational, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • Ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master’s or other advanced experience, coursework, or degree(s). 
  • 3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence/Analytics. 
  • Advanced math, statistical, data analyzing, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proactive and analytical thinker who can intelligently challenge the status quo and propose data driven solutions. 
  • Advanced Excel (formulas, Pivot Tables, Charting/Visualizations, Reporting and Dashboard building experience, VBA a plus) 
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Teams) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.

Compliance: 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations, and internal policies and procedures.  
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This is a full-time remote position.
  • Home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection.
  • May require setup of computer equipment; accommodation consideration available upon request.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation Range
$73,100—$85,000 USD
