[Hiring] AWS Redshift Data Engineer @Saxon Global

Role Description

Our client is seeking an experienced AWS Redshift Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize enterprise data solutions supporting business intelligence and analytics. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on Amazon Redshift expertise combined with advanced SQL, data modeling, AWS, business analysis, customer engagement, and data quality experience. The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand data requirements, translate them into scalable solutions, and provide technical leadership while mentoring and training a team of data engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize enterprise data warehouse solutions using Amazon Redshift and AWS services.
• Partner with business users and technical teams to gather requirements, perform data analysis, and define source-to-target mappings.
• Translate business requirements into efficient data models and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, Redshift schemas, and data loading processes.
• Ensure data quality through validation, root cause analysis, and governance best practices.
• Lead customer workshops to define business objectives and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, analysts, and project managers to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation, including:
  • Mapping specifications
  • Data dictionaries
  • Process flows
• Recommend improvements to data architecture, automation, and cloud best practices.

Leadership & Mentoring

• Mentor, coach, and train a highly skilled team of data engineers.
• Conduct design and code reviews while promoting engineering best practices.
• Provide technical leadership throughout project delivery and production support.
• Establish development standards and data engineering methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data warehousing.
• 5+ years of hands-on Amazon Redshift experience.
• Advanced SQL and dimensional data modeling expertise.
• Experience with AWS services such as:
  • AWS Glue
  • Amazon S3
  • AWS Lambda
  • AWS Step Functions
  • Amazon EMR
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Data mapping
  • Data profiling
  • Metadata management
  • Data quality
• Excellent communication and customer-facing consulting skills.
• Proven experience mentoring and developing technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Data Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with Spark.
• Experience working in Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or Amazon QuickSight.

Work Arrangement & Candidate Preferences

• 100% Remote.
• Candidate must be able to work Central Time Zone hours.
• Texas-based candidates are preferred.
• US Citizens or Green Card holders are preferred/required at this time.
• H-1B candidates are not being considered initially. If strong candidates are not identified within the first 2 weeks, H-1B candidates may be considered.

Contract & Submission Process

• 1-year contract with a local Dallas client.
• Recruiter/vendor should first send the candidate's resume for review to confirm qualification.
• Once the candidate is considered qualified, the resume should be formatted using the provided resume format and submitted as a Microsoft Word document.
• The client/recruiter will need to speak with the candidate by phone before the candidate is submitted to the end client.
