2d ago - Telstra Health is hiring a remote Support Specialist. 💸 Salary: unspecified 📍Location: Australia

Role Description

As a Support Specialist in the Leaving Violence Program, you’ll provide short-term, practical support to victim survivors of intimate partner violence as they take steps toward safety and stability. You’ll provide steady, compassionate support at a critical time, helping them understand the program, complete applications, talk through their needs, and connect with the right supports to help keep them safe.

Working in a structured, telephone-based environment, you’ll deliver support that is trauma-informed, culturally safe, and responsive to each person’s situation. You’ll use your judgement to recognise risk, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and escalate concerns when needed, always keeping safety at the centre of your work.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting individuals through the application and eligibility process
  • Providing short-term (up to 12 weeks) telephone-based support, including regular check-ins
  • Undertaking risk and needs assessments and contributing to safety planning
  • Facilitating access to financial support packages and referral pathways
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and documentation in line with program requirements

Qualifications

  • Experienced in supporting victim survivors impacted by intimate partner or family violence, using a trauma-informed approach
  • Confident in undertaking risk and needs assessments and contributing to safety planning
  • Able to manage complex and sensitive situations with professionalism and care
  • Strong organisational skills and experience maintaining accurate documentation
  • Relevant qualification in social work, psychology or a related field, with eligibility for a recognised professional body (e.g. AASW, AHPRA, ACA, PACFA)
  • Willingness to complete and maintain required compliance checks, including a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check

Requirements

  • Willingness to work full-time Monday to Friday between 8:00am – 6:00pm (local time) as part of a rotating roster

Benefits

  • Free Telstra mobile & plan (eligible employees only)
  • 25% off Telstra products & services
  • 16 weeks paid gender-equal parental leave + extra leave options
  • Career breaks, study support & ongoing learning programs
  • Free 24/7 professional support for you & your family
  • Employee rewards program: discounts on shopping, gyms, movies, health insurance & more
