[Hiring] Compliance Advisory Manager @Griffin

Role Description

You'll join our Service guild and work across first line operations, sales, and product. Working closely with Protect (our second line), you'll be the first person dedicated to compliance within the team. You'll define what great compliance solutions look like and implement them, keeping Griffin's products and customer outcomes in shape as we grow.

We want compliance and data protection built into how we design, sell, and run our products. As our hands-on DPO and compliance adviser, in the first line (the teams who run the business and own its risks), you'll bring regulatory expertise to help our operations, commercial, and product teams do exactly that.

In your first year, you’ve taken ownership of our data protection agenda. You’ve:

• Improved processes and provided senior leaders with an honest picture of our status.
• Collaborated with operations, sales, and product teams to streamline workflows.
• Guided at least one major launch, like card issuing, from idea to go live.
• Established governance and outcome monitoring for live products.

To do this you'll be involved in:

• Product development: Turning regulation into clear requirements, customer journeys, T&Cs, and fair value assessments.
• Product lifecycle management: Keeping live products compliant through periodic assessments and reviews.
• Sales: Helping the commercial team assess potential partners and reviewing sales material.
• Marketing: Ensuring marketing materials comply with regulations and policies.
• Service (Operations): Integrating regulatory and data protection requirements into daily operations.
• Regulatory change: Interpreting new rules and ensuring timely changes.
• Issues and reporting: Investigating compliance issues and reporting on risks and outcomes.
• Working with second line (Protect): Collaborating early and sharing necessary evidence.
• Data protection: Advising teams on obligations, monitoring compliance, and training colleagues.

Qualifications

• Compliance experience in the first (preferred) or second line of a UK regulated firm.
• Practical knowledge of relevant regulations like Consumer Duty, BCOBS, CASS, FISMA, and others.
• Expert knowledge of data protection law, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
• Hands-on experience turning regulation into practical requirements.
• A curious, questioning approach to compliance.
• The confidence to challenge when necessary.
• A love of writing with a focus on clarity and readability.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in at least one specialist area (e.g., payments, cards, financial promotions).
• Experience as a DPO or closely working with one in a regulated firm.
• Experience in finance or banking.
