[Hiring] VP of PR & Communications @Collateral Partners

Role Description

We’re hiring a VP of PR & Communications in our Dallas office to lead earned media and communications programs for clients across private equity, private credit, real estate, and asset management.

This is a senior seat for someone who still likes doing the work. You’ll be the lead PR counsel on your accounts:

• Building the media strategy, making the call to the reporter, landing the story, and preparing the principal for the interview.
• Advising on positioning and reputation, writing the piece, and holding the deadline.

You’ll own:

• Media strategy and earned media programs for each client - story development, pitching, and landing coverage, built on reporter relationships you maintain yourself.
• Media readiness for principals - interview prep, media training, and rapid response when a market moment opens up.
• Positioning, messaging, and corporate narrative for each client.
• Executive visibility - thought leadership, contributed commentary, speaking, and owned channels.
• Communications around consequential moments: capital raises, fund launches, M&A, leadership transitions, and crises.
• Direction of specialist teams on design, video, investor materials, and transaction work.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in PR, financial communications or corporate communications, with a meaningful share of it in media relations for financial services clients.
• Live press relationships with reporters covering private markets.
• A track record of coverage you secured yourself, not just coverage your team secured.
• Genuine finance fluency. You can read a fund presentation or investment memo and find the story, the proof points, and the weak spots.
• Experience advising and media-training senior principals directly.
• A senior writing standard - pitches, bylines, statements, briefing docs. This is a hands-on role and you’ll be producing the work.
• Discretion. This work touches active capital raises, M&A processes, and confidential firm strategy.
• Nice to have: crisis and reputation defense experience, conference and panel placement, a public voice of your own.

Requirements

• Advising principals and producing the work, without layers of account service between you and the client.
• Investing heavily in tooling and specialist support.
• Understanding that there won't be a bench of juniors to hand drafts down to.
