[Hiring] Strategic Alliance & Business Development Manager @Adaptive Biotechnologies

Role Description

Adaptive has a growing Pharma MRD business, which includes a portfolio of more than 140 clinical trials under management. The Pharma MRD group engages with new and existing customers to incorporate the Adaptive NGS-based MRD Assay into studies to evaluate minimal residual disease (MRD) as a prognostic and predictive early biomarker of response to assess depth and duration of response to a variety of cancer therapies. The Strategic Alliance & Business Development Manager at Adaptive Biotechnologies plays a central role to support the expanding MRD pharma business.

• Support and drive ongoing and new business opportunities.
• Expand partnerships with biopharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
• Identify, develop, negotiate, and close strategic business opportunities.
• Oversee customer engagements from project initiation through completion.
• Ensure successful delivery and a positive client experience.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Drive prospecting and acquisition of new business with pharmaceutical/industry customers.
• Drive negotiation of new contracts and agreements with industry clients.
• Oversee lifecycle management of partnerships/projects, including initiation, contracting, order creation and documentation, and deliverables to external stakeholders.
• Represent Adaptive externally and deliver scientific presentations to identify opportunities.
• Contribute to new bookings and recognized revenue corporate goals.
• Work cross-functionally to manage and deliver deal commitments.
• Support business development strategy and initiatives.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and 7+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 5+ years experience in academic and biotech industry.
• Candidates with a PhD and 2 years of post-doc industry experience will also be considered.
• Demonstrated track record of closing transactions.
• Experience working with internal/external multidisciplinary teams including R&D, Commercial, Legal, IP, Finance and Operations.
• Excellent written communication skills are required, including technical computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and leverage cross-functional resources.
• Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as on a team.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm, drive, and energy in building internal and external partnerships.
• Independent strategic thinker with strong ability to solve complex problems.
• Excited about an early stage company environment and driven to make a difference.

Requirements

• 3+ years of Clinical Lab, Client Services, Business Development or Alliance Management experience.
• PhD degree in immunology, cancer biology, or relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience in cellular immunology/biology, PCR or NGS-based assays.
• Experience with clinical trials operations/design.

Working Conditions

This is a remote position that may require up to 35% travel and the flexibility to work across global time zones as needed to support international customers and business partners.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $128,700 - $193,100.
• Possible “other compensation” elements to include: equity grant, bonus eligible.
