Role Description

The Director, Growth and External Relations is responsible for leading Digital Moment’s growth strategy across fundraising, government funding, strategic partnerships, and external relations.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role drives a diversified revenue strategy that supports both program delivery and organizational sustainability. The Director builds and manages long-term relationships with government funders, corporate partners, philanthropic supporters, and other strategic stakeholders, while also strengthening Digital Moment’s external positioning, visibility, and stewardship practices.

This leader works closely with the CEO, Finance, Program, Project Management, and Communications functions to ensure funding strategies are aligned with organizational priorities, partner commitments are well-supported, and Digital Moment is positioned for long-term impact and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Revenue Strategy and Growth
    • Develop and lead a diversified funding strategy that supports both program initiatives and organizational sustainability.
    • Oversee Digital Moment’s revenue streams across government funding, philanthropy, sponsorship, and strategic partnerships.
    • Build and monitor annual funding targets, revenue pipeline health, and growth plans.
    • Partner with the Director of Finance to support revenue forecasting, budget planning, and funding pipeline visibility.
  • Government Funding and Strategic Partnerships
    • Develop strong relationships, concept notes, and proposals to secure provincial and federal government funding.
    • Stay informed on funding trends, public priorities, and budget developments to identify opportunities aligned with Digital Moment’s mission.
    • Build and nurture long-term relationships with funders, partners, and supporters that contribute to both program impact and operational sustainability.
    • Leverage partnerships that offer value beyond funding, including visibility, volunteer engagement, strategic collaboration, and market credibility.
    • Build strong relationships with key government stakeholders and external decision-makers that support long-term sustainability.
  • Stewardship and Funder Relations
    • Ensure Digital Moment has a strong stewardship approach that deepens relationships with current funders and partners while generating new opportunities.
    • Oversee funder and partner communications related to renewals, updates, reporting inputs, and relationship development.
    • Work closely with internal teams to ensure commitments made to funders and partners are well coordinated and supported.
    • Partner with program and project management teams to help translate results, deliverables, and impact into strong funder-facing narratives and reports.
  • External Relations, Positioning and Communications
    • Oversee or guide external-facing initiatives that position Digital Moment as a leader in digital education and AI literacy.
    • Support marketing and communications efforts that strengthen visibility, generate partnership opportunities, and reinforce organizational credibility.
    • Help shape external messaging and partner-facing materials to ensure they are aligned with Digital Moment’s mission, impact, and growth priorities.
    • Represent Digital Moment effectively with funders, government stakeholders, strategic partners, and other external audiences.
  • CRM, Performance and Organizational Contribution
    • Build, implement, and oversee strong CRM practices that support relationship management, data quality, reporting, and impact storytelling.
    • Monitor and evaluate fundraising and growth activities to improve strategy through data-informed decision-making.
    • Work closely with the CEO to provide regular updates on fundraising progress, pipeline health, and financial outlook to the Board.
    • Contribute to cross-functional planning and organizational effectiveness by ensuring growth priorities are well integrated with program, finance, and operational realities.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in fundraising, partnerships, external relations, business development, or growth leadership in a nonprofit, education, youth-serving, or mission-driven organization.
  • Strong experience securing and managing government funding, philanthropic support, corporate sponsorships, or strategic partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success building long-term stakeholder relationships and converting them into sustainable revenue or strategic value.
  • Strong strategic, written, and verbal communication skills, including proposal development, concept notes, and executive-level relationship management.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with finance, programs, project management, and communications teams.
  • Strong data and systems orientation, including CRM discipline, pipeline management, and revenue tracking.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Strong commitment to Digital Moment’s mission and to expanding equitable access to digital and AI literacy.
