[Hiring] Senior AI Controls Solutions Engineer @Phaidra

Role Description

As an AI Controls Solutions Engineer, you'll play a critical role in operationalizing and scaling Phaidra's solutions for enterprise data center customers.

• Work closely with Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and Data Scientists (DSs) as the technical experts for Phaidra's customers.
• Use Phaidra's platform and tools to put AI into production, leading complex, high-impact implementations across multiple customers and environments.
• Responsibilities include:
• Create a model of the facility for ingestion by our product lineup, working closely with the Data Science team.
• Understand the facility and configure products according to customer requirements.
• Commission and tune products, assisting in analyzing and triaging systems in the support phase across multiple projects.
• Identify and define product requirements based on customer specifications and needs.
• Translate customer-stated and implied needs into coherent documentation for the software development team.
• Provide ongoing support of deployed products, including support issue resolution and performance monitoring.
• Lead the deployment and support of multiple Solutions, resolving onboarding or support tickets.
• Act as an internal and customer-facing SME, delivering platinum support and providing technical advice.
• This role can include 25% travel.

Qualifications

• 10-15 years of work experience as a controls engineer, programmer, or equivalent.
• Expertise in HVAC and Data Center cooling control methodologies and strategies.
• Ability to operate independently as a senior team member, managing complex projects.
• Understanding of applied thermodynamics for cooling systems, refrigeration systems, and hydronics.
• Experience designing, programming, or strong working knowledge of industrial and commercial control systems and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
• Understanding of air side chilled water and direct expansion cooling systems.
• Strong proficiency in working with data center operations teams.
• Experience programming control systems with PLC, ladder logic, text, or block programming languages.
• Passion for problem solving and scalable solutions.
• Good educational background in related disciplines (Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).
• Ability to read and write Python scripts for collaboration with the software engineering team.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-domain experts.
• Ability to own and manage large sections of documentation.
• Ability to understand customers and drive a culture of customer satisfaction.
• Ability to mentor peers and collaborate effectively.
• Uses AI tools strategically to accelerate delivery and improve quality.

Requirements

• Experience with rapidly prototyping new technologies and converting them into commercially viable products.
• Experience building, owning, and operating your own codebases/services.
• Experience architecting services within cloud platforms.
• Experience applying AI and ML in controls applications.
• Experience with statistics, analytics, etc.
• Experience with domain relevant optimization problems and solutions.
• Familiarity with markup languages like XML, JSON, or YAML.
