Role Description

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly qualified Virtual CTE teacher in Information Technology. This role involves creating a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning, life skills, career-based interventions, and career development.

  • Serve as a teacher of record and primary instructor in IT Career Pathways for students.
  • Teach content area following the school’s course of study or as assigned utilizing technology and varying teaching modalities.
  • Oversee and deliver curriculum that aligns to Career-Technical Education.
  • Plan and execute lesson plans that align with all necessary state standards.
  • Prepare students to earn industry recognized credentials in the IT Field.
  • Adapt and enrich the curriculum using multiple strategies and online tools to actively engage students in their learning.
  • Align material to ODE CTE standards and create course material aligned to applicable end of course assessments.
  • Initiate, recruit, and guide students through an active chapter of a CTSO.
  • Motivate students to achieve their full attendance, academic, and behavioral goals.
  • Maintain a positive school environment through effective conflict resolution, collaboration, and positive reinforcement.
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment.
  • Issue discipline in an orderly fashion conducive to good learning.
  • Keep accurate records on each student such as grade books and progress reports.
  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain effective communication on an ongoing basis with students, parents, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform student home visits as needed.
  • Prepare and administer all standardized tests as directed.
  • Recognize opportunities for teachable moments with students.
  • Gather, maintain, and submit all student information and forms in a professional and timely manner.
  • Develop classroom experiences that teach students how to apply what they learn to solve real world problems.
  • Possess the knowledge to learn data and delivery systems necessary for engaging and relevant student learning experiences.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional matters.
  • Use computers and other technology to assist and support students in their learning.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Work in a professional and cooperative manner with others to achieve duties and responsibilities.
  • Attend and/or participate in school activities as directed by the Administration.
  • Model tolerance, global awareness, reflective practice, and expected behavior from students.
  • Actively assist in student recruitment and retention activities as directed by the Administrator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • Current IT CTE teaching license required, or the ability to obtain a CTE supplemental license.
  • Ability to obtain reciprocity as needed in additional states.
  • Strong content knowledge in information technology.
  • Experience in research-based instructional practices for project-based learning.
  • Familiarity with the Response to Intervention (RTI) process.
  • Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound educational decisions.
  • Prior online teaching experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A passion for teaching and genuine care for children.
  • Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work with a diverse and distributed student body and peer group.
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
