[Hiring] Vice President, Policy and Advocacy @Charter School Growth Fund

Role Description

CSGF is seeking a Vice President, Policy & Advocacy to join our Policy, Communications and Advocacy (PCA) team. Reporting to the Managing Director, PCA, the Vice President, Policy & Advocacy sets the vision for and drives CSGF’s portfolio advocacy strategy across a region of 15+ states. This is a Vice President-level individual contributor role with no direct reports.

• Set and drive regional advocacy strategy (approximately 40%)
• Serve as advocacy thought partner to regional teams and portfolio members (approximately 40%)
• Represent CSGF and build the regional advocacy ecosystem (approximately 20%)

• Demonstrated ability to set a vision and establish and drive advocacy strategy independently
• Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
• Skilled at serving as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders
• Exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
• Outstanding project management skills
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to navigate politically complex environments
• Ability to collaborate as an integral member of cross-functional regional teams
• Ability to travel up to 50% to support portfolio advocacy work

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• 12+ years of progressive experience in advocacy, policy, electoral campaigns, or issues-based organizing
• Direct experience engaging executive and legislative branches of government at the state level
• Demonstrated experience building advocacy capacity in organizations, coalitions, or communities
• Experience managing external consultants and advocacy partners
• Knowledge of charter school sector dynamics and education policy landscape strongly preferred
• Direct knowledge and experience with state legislative processes required

• Target salary range for this role is $130,000-$160,000 annually
