Role Description

This position is located in the Office of Managing Director, Associate Managing Director-Administrative Operations (AMD-AO), Security Operations Center (SOC), Federal Communications Commission (FCC) located in Washington, DC. Relocation expenses will not be paid. THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL ADDITIONAL POSITIONS WITHIN 90 DAYS.

The incumbent of this position provides special assistance to the Chief Administrative Officer and Deputy AMD-AO, on security policies and procedures.

• Identifying the need for protection and security.
• Developing and maintaining the physical means used for protection and security.
• Developing, implementing, and maintaining procedural and technical methods to enhance physical protection.
• Assessing the reliability, loyalty, suitability, and trustworthiness of individuals with access to sensitive or classified information.
• Initially assessing possible damage to National security when information or material has been compromised or sabotaged.
• Investigating allegations of security violations to determine whether compromise or unauthorized disclosure took place.
• Knowledgeable in applying standards for safeguarding National Security Information.
• Conducting security surveys, inspections, and checks.
• Managing the security protective force and supervising the staff of the Security Operations Center.
• Developing and implementing policy, procedures, standards, training, and methods for protecting information, personnel, and assets.
• Coordinating efforts to detect, prepare for, prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from assaults.
• Working with various agencies to ensure the adequacy of the national strategy for security.
• Planning, developing, and carrying out vital security projects and programs central to the Agency's mission.
• Serving as the Liaison Officer to various federal and local law enforcement agencies.
• Evaluating and analyzing potential threats to FCC property and personnel.
• Providing direct supervision to subordinate staff, planning work, setting priorities, and preparing schedules.

Qualifications

• Must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
• Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
• Specialized Experience:
  • Minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 in the Federal service.
  • Experience overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive security policies.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting federal security laws and regulations.
  • Experience directing personnel security operations.
  • Experience managing physical security programs.
  • Experience supervising and providing leadership to security staff or multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• FCC Employees Only.
• Suitable for employment as determined by a background investigation.
• Current FCC employees must provide SF-50 verifying grade & status.
• Resume must not exceed two pages and must meet resume format criteria.
• Drug Testing Required.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain Top Security/SCI Clearance.
• Currently employed in the Federal Communications Commission in positions serving under career or career conditional appointments.
